“1,200 Individuals Granted Irish Citizenship”

1,200 individuals from 105 countries became Irish citizens in ceremonies held at the National Concert Hall in Dublin. Ministers Paschal Donohoe and James Browne were in attendance, alongside Minister Helen McEntee, who expressed warm congratulations to the new citizens. The ceremonies were presided over by retired Judge Paddy McMahon, who administered the Declaration of Fidelity to the Irish Nation and Loyalty to the State.

The new citizens pledged to uphold the laws and democratic values of Ireland. They bring diverse skills and talents, with over 10% working in the healthcare sector. Minister Donohoe highlighted Ireland’s tradition of welcoming newcomers and emphasised the contribution of immigrants to the economy and society. Minister Browne echoed this sentiment, acknowledging Ireland’s history of emigration and welcoming the new citizens to their new home.

The top 10 nationalities granted citizenship include India (243), Brazil (99), the United Kingdom (81), Romania (76), the Philippines (74), Poland (61), Pakistan (59), Nigeria (56), China (including Hong Kong) (52), and the United States of America (35).
