8,000 Palestinians were killed; Israel intensified its war tactics

In recent developments, the Israeli army has moved closer to Gaza, positioning itself along the Mediterranean coast to the north of Gaza City. This military operation began on Friday night and is set to expand slowly in the coming days. The Gaza-based health ministry has reported over 8,000 Palestinian casualties as the conflict enters its 23rd day. Israel has ordered the evacuation of over 10,000 people from Al-Quds Hospital in Gaza City.

US President Joe Biden has called on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to allow more humanitarian aid into Gaza. Israel has permitted the entry of humanitarian aid, with 33 trucks crossing from Egypt on Sunday, and plans to allow 100 trucks daily to address the humanitarian crisis. Additionally, Israel has reopened the second of three water pipelines to Gaza.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has declared that the conflict with Hamas has entered its second phase, with more troops being deployed to Gaza. He expressed his determination to confront Hamas by land, sea, and air, emphasising the gravity of the situation. Netanyahu also met with the families of those affected by the war.

Israeli forces have targeted 450 Hamas sites in a single day, and the conflict has resulted in 331 Israeli soldiers’ casualties since October 7. Airstrikes have been conducted in various areas of northern Gaza, including Jabalia and Khan Younis. The Israeli military has asserted that its operation is progressing according to plan, with an expansion of ground attacks anticipated. The situation remains tense, with Israel reaffirming its commitment to the campaign.
