Washington: Audio recordings of Donald Trump asking Secretary of State to find the vote needed to defeat Joe Biden in the US presidential election in Georgia are out.
The audio recording of Georgia’s Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger on the phone asking him to intervene in the election results has now been released. Only a few parts of the hour-long phone call came out.
Trump says officials will face action if votes are not found in his favor. The Washington Post has released an audio recording of the controversial conversation.
“The people of Georgia are angry, the people in the country are angry… And there’s nothing wrong with saying, you know, um, that you’ve recalculated” Mr Trump said.
“So look. All I want to do is this. I just want to find 11,780 votes, which is one more than we have. Because we won the state,” Mr Trump said in the recording.
One can also hear Brad Raffensperger replying that the information available to you about the number of votes is incorrect.
Biden, meanwhile, won in Georgia by more than 12,000 votes. This number did not change much even after repeated counts. The allegations made by Trump regarding the vote have not been confirmed.
It is reported that Trump did this call, three days before the US Congress officially confirmed Biden’s victory.
Trump has been widely criticized for insulting democracy and trying to sabotage transparent and fair elections.
However, the White House declined to comment. Raffensperger’s office did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
