Dublin: Indian expatriate Akshaya Bhargava has been named the next Chairman and Governor of the Bank of Ireland, effective January 1, 2025. Bhargava, a distinguished figure in the global financial and technology sectors, is the founder of InvestorAi, an AI-powered equity recommendation platform. He will continue to serve as Chairman of its parent company, Bridgeweave India Pvt Ltd, while assuming his new role at Ireland’s largest and one of the world’s oldest banks.
InvestorAi is recognised for its suite of AI-driven equity investment products, partnering with leading Indian brokerage firms such as HDFC Securities, Geojit PL, JM Financial Services, Yes Securities, IIFL Securities, and Axis Securities. The firm recently secured Rs. 80 crore in funding from prominent investor Ashish Kacholia, underscoring its growth and potential.
Bhargava’s academic background is equally impressive. He holds a degree in Economics from St. Stephen’s College, Delhi University, one of India’s premier educational institutions. He later earned an MBA from the prestigious Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Kolkata. After completing his MBA, Bhargava began his career in India before expanding his professional journey internationally.
He honed his expertise in banking and financial services during his tenure at Citibank, where he held various senior leadership roles. His time at Citibank gave him significant exposure to global markets and a deep understanding of banking operations, eventually leading him to focus on international ventures.
Bhargava expressed his excitement about the new appointment, calling it a “great privilege” to lead the Bank of Ireland. He emphasised the bank’s vision of a technology-driven future and its commitment to digital innovation.
