All ready for Christmas; Dublin City Center asks people to shop early this year

Ireland is getting ready to celebrate Christmas amidst the Covid-19. The streets of Dublin are lit up with the arrival of Christmas.

Sales of decorative lights and Christmas festivities have already begun in Dublin, this time in the Covid-19 context.

The market is already gearing up to avoid social hustle and bustle and ensure social distance and other precautionary measures.

Dublin Town, a business conglomerate in Dublin City Center, has announced that the ‘Nollaig Shona Duit’ (Happy Christmas) light displays will return to Grafton Street this year.

Dublin Town is urging people to start Christmas shopping earlier this year to avoid the December rush ahead of Christmas.

Shopping and gatherings under Christmas lights are a Christmas memory for many.

There will be no big celebrations this time around in the Covid-19 context, and Dublin City Center businesses are going through a major crisis.

Dublin Town has announced that it will not install new Christmas lights on some streets, but will install lights on 26 city center streets, including Grafton and Henry / Mary Street.

The Christmas lights, which were previously on Wicklow Street, will be moved to Grafton Street.

Last year, Christmas lights on Grafton Street were relocated to Wicklow Street, and there was overwhelming support for the installation of a ‘Welcome to Grafton Quarter’ light display.

At the same time, businesses were also ready for the Christmas trade, ensuring public health guidelines, including physical distance, in the Covid context.

Dublin Town officials said people should visit stores in city centers and buy products from local retailers to support them.

The people must support the city’s businesses to bring the capital, Dublin, back to its former glory after Covid.

In addition, Dublin Town says that if you buy goods online, you should buy from Irish sites.

Dublin Town CEO Richard Guiney said that people love Dublin very much and get a lot of support during Christmas.

“But obviously this year, with physical distancing, we want people to have a comfortable time as well. We’re encouraging people to come in, do their Christmas shopping that bit earlier, and take it at their leisure.” he said.

He added that people should take shopping from traders in the city to revive businesses after the Covid epidemic.
