Dublin: From February, postage rates will be slightly higher.
The price of the stamp has risen by ten cents. The cost of the stamp required on letters sent within Ireland will rise from €1.25 to €1.35 (an increase of 8%).
However, overseas letter stamps will remain at €2.20.
The price of the digital stamp, which was introduced in October and is currently priced at €2.00, will also remain unchanged. Charges for registered post and large envelopes will also increase depending on the service and size of the package.
In March, An Post raised the price of a domestic stamp by 15 cents to €1.25 and the price of sending a letter abroad by 20 cents to €2.20.
The company stated that the new decision was made due to an increase in expenses in the areas of transportation, fuel, energy, and operations.
According to the company, “while working to ensure high-quality and consistent services for all customers, regardless of where they live, the company says it has made every effort to reduce price increases,” and it estimates that An Post rates remain lower than those charged by postal services in other European countries (€1.69 on average).
