Kildare: Applegreen is set to create around 150 new jobs in Naas with the opening of a new €15 million roadside service area and electric vehicle hub later this year.
The new facility is located near Naas Ball at Junction 9 of the M7 and is being developed as a major roadside destination for motorists, commercial drivers and electric vehicle users.
The site will feature 16 EV charging points, including eight Applegreen Fast Charge ultra-fast chargers. It will also include a dedicated HGV truck stop with fuel facilities and a car wash.
New jobs as recruitment begins
Recruitment for the 150 positions is already under way, with Applegreen inviting new employees to join its team.
Seamus Stapleton, managing director of Applegreen’s Republic of Ireland operations, said the development reflected the company’s ambition to raise standards in roadside services and hospitality across Ireland.
The Naas facility will be the company’s second major new service area in Ireland in less than a year. Applegreen opened a €15 million service area on the M3 in Dunshaughlin last September.
The company currently operates around 200 locations across Ireland.
Popeyes drive-through among new facilities
The new Naas service area will offer a wide range of food, retail and convenience services, including Popeyes, Taco Bell, M&S Food, Crafted Kitchen and Deli, an Applegreen forecourt and a convenience store.
The Popeyes outlet at the Naas development is set to become the first Popeyes drive-through in the Republic of Ireland. A further drive-through outlet is also scheduled to open at the site during the winter.
Popeyes and Taco Bell have expanded their presence in Ireland in recent months, while Applegreen has also developed a partnership with M&S Food. These brands are now available across 43 Applegreen locations.
Applegreen has committed around €1 billion to expanding its operations across Ireland, the UK and the US.
