DUBLIN: Applications are now open for 184 rental apartments at Cookstown Gateway in Tallaght. The rental rates are set at €1,000 for a studio apartment, €1,225 for a one-bedroom apartment, and €1,425 for a two-bedroom apartment. Interested applicants can submit their applications online through the designated portal. The application window is open for one week, and tenants will be selected through a lottery system.
According to the Residential Tenancies Board’s 2023 Rent Index, the average rent in Dublin is €2,098, making these rates significantly more affordable. John Coleman, CEO of the Land Development Agency (LDA), emphasised that this scheme offers a secure and cost-effective housing option for tenants.
“Prime Location and Quality Living”
The Cookstown Gateway apartments boast a prime location, overlooking the Cookstown stop on the Red Luas line. The Tallaght University Hospital and The Square Shopping Centre are within walking distance, adding to the convenience for residents. The apartments are A-rated for energy efficiency, ensuring high living standards.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants currently residing in Dublin with an annual income below €66,000 or those living outside Dublin with an income up to €59,000 are eligible to apply.
About ‘Project Tosaigh’ by the LDA
These apartments are part of the Land Development Agency’s ‘Project Tosaigh,’ an initiative aimed at providing affordable and social housing on government-owned land. Established in 2018, the LDA is a government-sponsored commercial body focused on addressing housing needs. ‘Project Tosaigh’ specifically targets sites with full planning permission that remain undeveloped due to financial constraints. The LDA aims to build 5,000 affordable homes across Dublin by the end of 2026.
Application Process
Applications for the Cookstown Gateway Cost Rental Apartments opened yesterday and can be submitted through [LDA’s application portal](https://lda.ie/affordable-homes/lda-cost-rental/cookstown-gateway) until June 27. Selection will be made by lottery from the pool of eligible applicants.
