As Europe opens its doors to Indians, Denmark is creating thousands of job opportunities

Copenhagen: The Danish government has published a list of jobs available to foreign workers in Denmark as part of the government’s effort to expand opportunities for foreign workers in order to address Denmark’s labour shortage.

Despite many difficulties and challenges in finding work in Denmark, India has received the greatest number of foreign workers in the last year. In the new situation, thousands of Indians are preparing to immigrate to Denmark.

From January 1, foreign workers are allowed to enter Denmark under two separate categories. Although the current list prepared for foreign workers has come into effect, it may take a few more months to complete the procedures and start the full-scale recruitment. The Danish government believes that the full number of foreign workers will be admitted to Denmark under the new procedures by June.

The government has published two types of job lists: those for individuals with higher educations and those working in industries that require skilled workers.

The government has released two lists of job openings based on a labour market balance list obtained from the Danish Agency for Labor Market and Recruitment (STAR).

The positive list for higher education includes 40 occupations, and the positive list for skilled occupations includes 36 occupation categories. The law will go into effect before June 30 of this year.

Foreigners with a higher education can now apply for 40 different types of jobs in Denmark. Individuals must have a qualifying educational background in order to move to Denmark to work on this list. There must be a job offer in that occupation before applying for a Danish work visa.
