Dublin: The Irish Department of Justice has given relief to applicants, including hundreds of Indians who were waiting for extradition visas to Ireland. An urgent decision was made on the pending applications from February, and the issuance of permits to applicants began this week.
Shortly after the ‘Irish Samachar’ and the Malayalam edition ‘Irish Malayali’ brought the crisis in nursing recruitment in Ireland to the public’s attention, the Ministry and a leading Irish media had intervened in the issue and started discussions. Given the growing crisis in the health sector as a result of the transfer visa denial, the Ministry was asked to take immediate action on the issue.
Several people have received atypical work permits as of yesterday. The Department of Justice is working hard to complete work permits, which are eligible on a priority basis, within this month.
Due to the delay in atypical work permits, many people even had situations where the decision letter was delayed. Hundreds of applicants, including Indians, are relieved by the decision that all those who are eligible will get atypical work permits immediately.
