Melbourne: Australia are planning to allow 30,000 spectators at the Melbourne Cricket Stadium for the second Test against India.
Initially, only 25,000 people were allowed. But the Sports Ministry took the new decision after 40 consecutive days of non-reporting of Covid cases.
This is the first time since March 2020 that so many spectators have been able to watch the game in the country.
Sports Minister Martin Pakula made the announcement. Australia will play a total of four Tests against India. The second test is known as the Boxing Day Test. This match is crucial for India.
After the first Test, Indian captain Virat Kohli will return home. In this case, the team will have to sweat well against Australia. In Kohli’s absence, Ajinkya Rahane will lead the team. India won the last Test series 2-1.
