Dublin: Several Dublin bus routes will undergo renumbering next month as part of the ongoing BusConnects initiative. Thirteen routes will change, including the addition of 13 new routes, with expanded 24-hour and express services beginning on December 8.
New 24-Hour and Express Routes
Starting next month, routes E1 and E2 will provide 24-hour service, covering major areas such as Bray, the city centre, Ballymun, and Santry. Route 19 will also introduce a direct service from the city centre to Dublin Airport, while areas such as Greystones, Newcastle, and Blackrock will benefit from new local (L) and express (X) bus routes to the city and nearby transit hubs.
Discontinued and Renumbered Services
From December 8, routes 46a, 145, and 155 will be retired, with adjustments to names and schedules. Additionally, several routes, including 46a, 46e, 63, 63a, 84x, 84a, 84, 143, 144, 145, 155, 184, and 185, will be discontinued and replaced by the following services:
E1: Northwood – DCU – City Centre – Bray – Ballywaltrim
E2: Ballymun (IKEA) – DCU – City Centre – Dún Laoghaire
19: Dublin Airport – DCU – Parnell Square
L1: Newtownmountkennedy – Greystones Station – Bray Station
L2: Newcastle – Greystones Station – Bray Station
L3: North Delgany – Greystones Station – Glenbrook Park
L12: Ballywaltrim – Herbert Road – Bray Station
L14: Southern Cross Road – Bray Station – Palermo
L15: Enniskerry Golf Club – Bray Station
L26: Kilternan – Cornelscourt – Blackrock Station
L27: Leopardstown Valley – Cornelscourt – Dún Laoghaire
X1: Kilcoole – Greystones – City Centre (Hawkins Street)
X2: Newcastle – Kilcoole – Greystones – Bride’s Glen – City Centre (Hawkins Street)
Additional Route Adjustments
On December 8, additional changes will affect the following routes:
Route 4: From Monkstown, diverted from O’Connell Bridge to Heuston Station
Route 11: From Sandyford, will extend from Parnell Square to Phibsborough, North Circular Road, and Phoenix Park.
Route 13: From Grange Castle, will now terminate at Mountjoy Square
The changes aim to streamline and improve Dublin’s public transportation network, with Dublin Bus noting that further adjustments may be introduced in the coming months as the BusConnects plan continues to roll out.
