California battles A powerful winter storm that swept down the West Coast with flooding and frigid temperatures

A huge winter storm has wrecked havoc in California over the past several days, flooding some towns and leaving almost 85,000 households and companies without power in Los Angeles. Storms continued to pummelled sections of California, causing rivers to overflow and snow to fall in low-lying areas surrounding Los Angeles. According to AP reports, more than 7 inches of rain poured in Ventura County on Saturday morning, creating flash floods.

As reported by the AP, the storm was one of the fiercest to ever impact southwest California, according to the National Weather Service. Even after the intensity of the rain and wind decreased, the storm continued to have a considerable impact, with snowfall as low as 1,000 feet.
