Dublin: More than 86,000 offers have been issued by the Central Applications Office (CAO) to just over 59,000 applicants for undergraduate courses this year.
- Level 8 (degree courses): 54,256 offers
- Level 6/7: 31,842 offers
Just over 51% of applicants received their first-choice Level 8 course, down from 56% last year, while 80% secured one of their top three preferences (compared to 83% in 2023). At Level 6/7, 90% received their top choice, slightly below last year’s 92%.
Applicants may receive offers from both lists but can only accept one offer per round. All offers must be accepted by 3pm, Tuesday, 2 September.
CAO noted that points requirements have shifted due to rising demographics and deflated Leaving Certificate results—with 50% of courses requiring higher points, while 42% saw reductions.
CAO Head of Communications Eileen Keleghan advised applicants to carefully consider offers, warning that in some cases, this round may be the only opportunity. Those without offers will receive a Statement of Application email and are urged to check for any account errors promptly.
