Dublin: Cardinal Health has announced plans to close its Tullamore facility in Co. Offaly by spring 2026, affecting more than 300 employees. The phased shutdown was communicated to staff and unions, with SIPTU confirming a 30-day consultation period. This decision is part of a global strategy, with production possibly moving to Costa Rica or Thailand.
Minister for Enterprise, Peter Burke, expressed concern for the affected workers and pledged to engage with the company and the IDA on future possibilities. While the Tullamore site has been operational since 1982, Cardinal Health emphasised that its commercial activities in Ireland will not be impacted by the closure.
