DUBLIN: Met Éirean has issued a Status Yellow wind alert for three counties as windy weather is set to continue.
Counties such as Donegal, Galway and Mayo were warned. The warning, which takes effect from 9pm tonight (Monday), will continue until 9am tomorrow.
Met Éireann predicts that southwesterly winds would hit at a speed of 50 to 65km/h and gusts of 90 to 110km/h. “There is a risk of coastal flooding around high tide,” it said.
Meanwhile, a yellow wind alert for Antrim and Down is also currently in place until midnight.
Yesterday, Met Éireann said that the country will see showers “gradually clear” this morning. And later, the weather will be drier, brighter, Met Éireann said.
Today afternoon “will be mostly dry with hazy bright spells and just the risk of a few isolated showers”. It also says temperatures are likely to rise again (13 degrees).
It is expected to rain across the country today and there will be a “mix of cloud and sunny spells with widespread showers” on Tuesday.
