The Japanese car manufacturing company Nissan is now carrying out a recall of different models in Ireland as they found fault with the child lock system.
The recall is done by Nissan Ireland as they found that the rear door child lock facility is not functioning properly.
Child safety locks are built into the rear doors of most cars to prevent rear seat passengers or children from opening the doors both during transit and while the vehicle is stationary.
Models like Nissan Pulsar, Navara NP300, Note, Juke and Qashqai vehicles are affected by the recall.
The company said that these vehicles were manufactured in between 2015 September and 2018 March. They also said that there are around 20,770 such vehicles on the Irish market and roads.
“The child lock on the rear doors could be faulty and it might be possible to open the door even when the child lock is activated,” said Nissan Ireland in a statement.
The company said that they will make necessary arrangements to contact the vehicle owners and arrange an inspection of the child lock mechanism.
Customers can check the status of their vehicle, that is whether their vehicle is involved in the recall or not by communicating with their local Nissan dealers or authorized service centers.
