Court Reveals Complications in the Investigation of the Cork Murder of Indian Chartered Accountant

Cork: The court proceedings unveiled the intricate nature of the investigation into the murder of Deepa Paruthiyakhit Dinamani, a 38-year-old Malayali chartered accountant, in Cork. The incident occurred on July 14 at her residence in Cardinal Court, Wilton, where Deepa, a native of Palakkad (Kerala) and a mother of one, lost her life. Regin Paritapara Rajan (41), the individual arrested in connection with the case, has been remanded until January 3, 2024. Deepa had been residing in Cork for three months.

The Garda file pertaining to the investigation is currently under review by the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP). Defence solicitor Eddie Burke raised concerns about the delay in receiving instructions in this matter, emphasising the need for an explanation.

The complexity of the investigation is underscored by its international scope, with inquiries being conducted in India, the UK, and the US. Detective Inspector Jason Lynch of Anglesey Street Garda Station informed the court that this is a “very complex” case involving international collaboration, the analysis of 850,000 pages of data, and the collection of 110 statements related to forensic evidence.
