COVID-19: 18 deaths and 683 new cases confirmed yesterday

DUBLIN: The Department of Health has confirmed 18 additional deaths and 683 new cases of COVID-19 in Ireland yesterday.

The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Ireland is now 232,164.

Of the deaths reported yesterday, six occurred in March, seven in February and five in January. The death toll from COVID-19 is 4,628.

Of the cases confirmed yesterday,

● 324 were men and 359 were women

● 75% are under 45 years of age

● The median age is 32

● 308 of the new cases are in Dublin, 68 in Donegal, 49 in Kildare, 35 in Meath, 30 in Offaly and the remaining 193 cases are spread across 21 other counties.

As of yesterday morning, 329 COVID-19 patients were hospitalized. There were no new admissions to the ICU, and the number of patients remains at 76.

The 14-day incidence rate in Ireland is 159.3 per 100,000 of the population.

 As of 21 March, 680,015 doses of the vaccine were administered in Ireland. Of these, 495,824 people received their first dose and 184,191 received their second dose.
