A total of 442 new COVID-19 cases were confirmed in Ireland today. This brings the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 36,597.
The health department has reported 4 new deaths. This brings the death toll from COVID to 1,806.
Today was the highest number of cases confirmed after the 701 cases reported on April 26.
Of the today’s confirmed cases;
● 67% of the cases are among people under the age of 45
● 227 are men and 217 are women
● 54% of the cases are associated with outbreaks or close contacts
● 69 have been identified as occurring through community transmission
● 170 were confirmed in Dublin
● Of the remaining cases: 47 are in Cork, 28 in Donegal, 23 in Meath, 21 in Galway, 20 in Monaghan, 14 in Clare, 12 in Roscommon, 11 in Laois, 11 in Longford, 10 in Cavan, 10 in Limerick, 10 in Tipperary, 9 in Kildare, 8 in Wicklow, 5 in Louth and 5 in Wexford.
● The rest 28 cases are spread across 9 counties.
The cases were confirmed today in all counties across the country. Dublin and Donegal are under Level 3 restrictions, while the others are under Level 2.
