COVID-19: New 324 cases and three deaths confirmed in Ireland

The Department of Health yesterday confirmed 324 new COVID-19 cases in Ireland. This brings the number of confirmed cases in the country to 33,994.

Health experts say three more people have died yesterday from COVID-19. The death toll from Covid-19 in Ireland has risen to 1,797 so far.

Of the confirmed cases;

● 64% of today’s cases are in people under 45 years of age. 

● Community transmission was identified in 81 of the new cases

● 52% were associated with outbreaks or are close contacts of a confirmed case.

● 167 cases are in Dublin, 42 in Donegal, 34 in Cork, 13 in Monahan, 12 in Kildare, 8 in Cavan,    6 in Limerick, 6 in Meath, 6 in Roscommon and 5 in Wicklow.

● The remaining 25 cases are spread across 11 counties.

Acting chief medical officer Dr. Ronan Glynn said: “Public health doctors are coming across more cases arising from people who are close contacts of confirmed cases and are not restricting the movements.”

He said that if anyone had close contact with a confirmed case, please follow the instructions given by HSE and restrict your movements for 14 days.

He reminded them not to go outside for anything except the essentials. Also he recommends to stay at home without interacting with anyone else.
