COVID-19 outbreak confirmed in a Dublin special school following a mass testing

DUBLIN: The Central Remedial Clinic (CRC) in Clontarf, Dublin, confirmed that the school had a number of confirmed COVID-19 cases. Following a mass testing of students, staff, and close contacts on the school’s campus on April 1, it was found that a dozen or more cases were linked to school outbreaks.

The HSE had sent a text message to staff members the last Sunday evening, following the discovery of the preliminary case of COVID-19 at Clontarf school. The staff were informed that additional cases had been found as a result of testing of close contacts, and that a public health risk assessment will be performed.

The HSE contacted all parents and teachers who were considered to be in close contact with a child who tested positive for the COVID-19 test.

A CRC spokeswoman said: “On Thursday, April 1, we facilitated the National Ambulance service to carry out testing on close contacts, staff and students on our campus in Clontarf. We remain in contact with all relevant authorities in this regard.”

“We have been working with all stakeholders throughout the week and we continue to work closely with the HSE and Public Health. “We will continue to raise these issues with the HSE and DES to ensure the safety of all students, clients and staff,” the spokeswoman added.
