Covid cases in China surges

China, which is dealing with the world’s largest COVID-19 outbreak, may be reporting a million COVID-19 cases and 5,000 deaths per 24 hours, Bloomberg said Thursday, citing new data from a London-based analytics business. According to Airfinity Ltd., the current wave of cases, which has been aggravated by China’s insistence on eliminating COVID guidelines as well as the appearance of BF.7, a new Omicron subvariant, might climb to 3.7 million by next month and a scary 4.2 million by March.

Is India to be concerned?

On Wednesday, India verified three cases of the new BF. 7 variants in Gujarat and one in Odisha. According to the government, all four were isolated, treated, and recovered from the virus.

Also on Wednesday, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya convened a high-level conference to assess the country’s COVID situation. As India prepares for B.F. 7, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will have another meeting later.
