Cricket World Gears Up for ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024, Set to Begin on October 3 in UAE

The 2024 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, starting on October 3 in the UAE, is set to captivate the cricketing world. Originally planned for Bangladesh, the tournament was relocated due to political unrest. Ten teams will compete in 23 matches, culminating in the final on October 20.

For the first time in history, the event will feature an all-female panel of match officials, emphasising the ICC’s push for gender equality in sports. This experienced group includes umpires Claire Polosak, Kim Cotton, Jacqueline Williams, and newcomers like Sarah Dambanevana, alongside veteran match referees such as GS Lakshmi.

The tournament format divides the teams into two groups. Group A features defending champions Australia, India, Pakistan, New Zealand, and Sri Lanka, while Group B includes Bangladesh, England, South Africa, the West Indies, and Scotland. The top two teams from each group will advance to the semifinals. Matches will be held at the iconic Sharjah Cricket Stadium and Dubai International Stadium.

This tournament promises to be a landmark event, showcasing elite talent and marking significant progress for women’s cricket globally.
