Death of George Nkencho; Protesters marched in front of the Blanchardstown Garda station

Following the death of George Nkencho, protesters marched in front of the Blanchardstown Garda station, chanting slogans for denying justice for Nkencho.

In the evening, hundreds of people, including Nigerians from the West, marched through the Blanchardstown shopping center.

Leaders, including Leo Varadkar, took to social media as the video of the incident began to spread on social media. Varadkar expressed grief over the incident and reminded that the protest through social media would add fuel to the fire.

Following Garda’s repeated attempts to quell the social media protests, Nkencho’s sister herself went directly to the scene and asked people not to spread the video.

However, Garda does not believe there was a genocide in Ireland. Their stand is that it happened while confronting the assailant.

However, African leaders in Dublin said the protests would continue and that the struggle for justice, including a march in front of Garda Station, would continue in the coming days.

The general opinion is that the shooting of the 27-year-old man in his backyard could have been avoided by the Garda.

A number of immigrant organizations have protested the tragedy, which has caused great distress to Irish immigrants. This is the first time a black man has been shot dead in Ireland.
