Dublin Airport prepares for the summer rush

Dublin: Dublin Airport is planning to cope with the summer holiday rush. The aim is to introduce new baggage services to ease the hassles of passengers.

The proposed retail and storage facilities will be primarily concentrated in Terminals 1 and 2, which are the busiest for passengers. It is decided to provide luggage collection services, third-party lost and found services, sleep pods, concierge services, and travel ticket sales at this location. The services are planned based on the calculation of passenger arrival.

According to airport officials, they will tender the operator to provide luggage weighing and wrapping services at both terminals. They will also provide left-luggage services. It is also expected that there will be sales of accessories related to luggage.

The rush of visitors continues after covid. This summer, the airport anticipates heavy traffic. This year, Ireland expects 31.1 million passengers. This represents 95% of 2019. It will be 33 million next year. By 2028, it is expected to reach 37 million. Last year, Dublin Airport served 28.1 million passengers. There was a 231 percent increase in passengers compared to 2021. 85% of visitors in 2019 were to recover.

According to the DAA, the baggage handling service concessions implemented at the airport will be extremely beneficial to passengers. The new chief executive, Kenny Jacobs, said that there will be no delays at Dublin Airport due to security checks.
