Dunleary India Fest Saturday; preparations complete

Dublin: On Saturday, September 16, India Fest will be held in Dublin to showcase India’s rich heritage, tradition, diversity, and culture to the rest of the world. Extensive preparations are underway to turn the ‘Dunleary India Fest’ into one of Ireland’s largest cultural festivals.

India Fest is held in Kilboggett Park on the N11 near Ballybrack Tesco. The festivities will take place on Saturday from 10 p.m. to 7 p.m. India Fest is a free opportunity to enjoy traditional Indian cultural dishes.

India Fest is being organised in collaboration with an Indian organisation, Social Space Ireland, and Dunleary County Council’s Social Inclusion Forum.

India Fest is seen as a celebration of India for Indians who have been living in Ireland for many years. Various Indian communities from across the country will host the event. Councillor Denis O’Callaghan (Mayor of Dunleary County Council), Indian Ambassador Akhilesh Mishra, Garda Chief Superintendent Matthew Nyland, T. D. Marr, Senators, community leaders, and others from various Indian states will attend the inaugural event. Art forms will also be presented at the fest.

Punjabi Bhangra, Shinkari Melam, Tamil Kummi Dance, Gujarati Garba, Marathi Folk Dance, Kathak Bengal Irish Fusion, Odissi Dance, Bollywood Dances, and Kerala Dance are among the festival’s highlights. India Fest is held in the sprawling Kilboggett Park, which is decorated with pearl umbrellas and flagpoles.

Soul Beats and Karmic

The music bands of Ireland’s top singers will take the stage at 12:00 noon and 5:00 pm, respectively.

Around one hundred and fifty artists will take the stage at the same time.

The dance performances by the Dharmendra Bollywood Dance Team, which will be performed by over 150 artists at the same time, will be a major highlight of the Dunleary India Fest. The largest adjustable stage in Ireland’s arts festivals has been prepared here. Mega Thiruvathira, performing artists from the Blackrock region, Saptasvara, Mudra, and Dancing Dynamic, Ireland’s leading dance schools, will also participate in the India Fest.

Cricket, archery, high jump, and yoga for children will be offered in the morning.

There will also be henna (Mehndi) stalls and Indian jewellery stalls to visit. There will also be food stalls with a wide variety of Indian flavours. There are around 30 stalls available, including jewellery items and Indian products.

All this will be accompanied by live music from several musical bands.

Not only is there ample parking, but entry is free. Buses from Dublin City (155, 145, 7, 7A), Bray, and Dunleary pass right next to Kilbogget Park.

Everyone is welcome to the Dunleary India Fest, which has become Ireland’s biggest cultural festival, the organisers said.
