DUBLIN: The flight, which will carry oxygen, PPE and medical supplies from Ireland to India, will depart for Delhi at 8 am today.
As part of Ireland’s emergency material donation, the country decided to donate 700 oxygen concentrators, PPE, and other medical supplies to India, which is suffering from the devastating COVID-19 outbreak.
According to a tweet from Dublin Airport, the Volga-Dnepr plane Ilyushin IL-76 arrived at Dublin Airport yesterday evening and will load a cargo of essential materials and depart for the national capital Delhi today morning.
The COVID-19 situation in India is quickly worsening, with the nation witnessing the largest single-day spike in the world yesterday, with over 360,000 new cases. The death toll from COVID-19 has exceeded 200,000.
For nearly a week, India has been registering over 3 lakh cases of coronavirus infections per day. The majority of Indian states are currently facing a shortage of medical oxygen, hospital beds for Coronavirus patients, and medicine.
In this situation, the country needs everyone’s assistance, and many other nations, including the US and UK, as well as many big businesses, have stepped forward to assist India.
Indian Ambassador to Ireland Sandeep Kumar had expressed his gratitude to Ireland for offering assistance to India.
