For the attention of people in Dublin; Irish Water suggests to conserve water and check for leaks

DUBLIN: Irish Water urges homeowners and businesses in the Greater Dublin Area to ensure water conservation and fix leaks ahead of the coming cold weather.

Irish Water has issued a warning following the onset of cold weather in early January, which disrupted public water supply. Meanwhile, Irish Water and local authorities in Dublin are in the process of repairing several leaks that occur in the cold weather.

Irish Water says it can save about 40 megaliters of water per day because of these repairs and other water conservation activities.

“Demand for water whilst still high, it has stabilised as Irish Water working with our local authority partners continues to address bursts across the network,” Irish water head of operations Tom Cuddy said.

Irish Water also urges consumers to inspect frozen and burst pipes in the wake of cold weather and to report leaks in the public network.

“We are also asking the public to conserve water where possible and to only use what they need whilst continuing to adhere to public health advice on hand washing and hygiene regarding Covid-19,” Mr. Cuddy said.
