France imposes strict rules to limit people’s movement; Curfew imposed in Paris and 8 other Cities

France shifts gears to tighten the Covid-19 restrictions. As the covid cases in the European countries rises day by day, it has been decided to impose certain new restrictions to slow down the speed of virus spread.

With this France has become the latest European country to tighten the restrictions by imposing a curfew in Paris and other eight cities.

Cities which has higher people density and rushes are now asked to follow the latest guidelines and limit people’s movement.

Curfew has been announced in cities like Lyon, Marseille and Toulouse as a part of state health emergency.

President Emmanuel Macron in an interview said that people of the restricted cities should try to confine themselves to their home during 9pm to 6am from Saturday onwards and this curfew is expected to last for at least a month. A fine of €135 will be imposed on those who found to be outside their residence during the curfew without any special authorisation.    

“We have to act. We need to put a brake on the spread of the virus,” Macron said, adding the measure would stop people visiting restaurants and private homes in the late evening and night,” he said.

He asked people to follow the guideline and not to wander unnecessarily on the roads after the prescribed time.
