France has abolished the requirement for airport transit visas for Indian nationals, effective April 10, 2026, easing travel for passengers transiting through its airports.
The decision, confirmed by the Embassy of France in India, applies to travellers who remain within the international transit zone while connecting to a third country, without entering French territory.
The move follows an announcement by Emmanuel Macron during his visit to India earlier this year, and has been formalised through amendments to existing visa regulations.
Germany had earlier introduced a similar exemption for Indian passengers transiting through major airports such as Frankfurt and Munich. The changes are expected to simplify travel, reduce costs, and improve connectivity for Indian travellers using European transit hubs.
