Dublin: Gardaí have launched a formal investigation after threats were made on social media targeting Tánaiste Simon Harris and his family.
The complaint, lodged by Harris himself, has prompted a joint inquiry involving Wicklow Gardaí, the National Cyber Crime Bureau, and the Special Detective Unit.
Investigators noted that while Harris has previously been subjected to online threats, this case is being treated with particular seriousness as it directly involves his wife and children.
The incident follows earlier protests outside the Tánaiste’s Wicklow residence, where his family lives.
Responding to the threats, Harris said he would not be intimidated:
“No one should think that I will back down because of threats,” he stated.
The investigation remains ongoing.
