Dublin: An Garda Síochána has launched a new social media campaign highlighting the link between recreational cocaine use and organised criminal activity, amid rising drug consumption among young adults.
The initiative follows data from the National Drugs Library showing the highest cocaine usage rates among people aged 15–24 and 25–34. Garda Commissioner Justin Kelly said casual cocaine use has increasingly contributed to violence and large-scale disorder both in Ireland and abroad.
The campaign, titled “Every Line Funds Crime,” mirrors the style of UK anti-piracy advertisements. It aims to show users how their drug purchases directly fuel criminal networks responsible for intimidation, assaults, forced labour, child harm and bomb attacks.
“You wouldn’t threaten an innocent person, bomb a home, or put a child in danger. But if you buy cocaine, you are funding the criminals who do,” the message states.
