Government’s ‘Eat Out to Help Out’ project; up to 50% off on food prices

One month has passed since the successful ‘Eat Out to Help Out’ project to get people to restaurants. The British government came up with such a plan by aiming at non-outgoing customers. This new way of businesses made more profit than expected by selling the eateries at a discounted price.

In Covid’s background, people are reluctant to go out and eat and spend time together and the government aims to overcome this. Accordingly, a 50 per cent discount will be given on food prices.

The maximum discount is 10 10 (Rs. 975) per person. The amount will be delivered to the restaurants within five days. However, the exemption does not apply to parcel services.

Latest figures show that Eat Out to Help out significantly improved restaurant bookings during the recent month, with the scheme mounting in acceptance each week. Around two million Eat Out to Help Out meals are claimed in just Wales alone.

Over 2 million in both Wales and Northern Ireland and over 51 million meals claimed for in England by 27 August.

The government plans to expand the scheme to include more restaurants by the end of September. The restaurant owners said that when they look at the figures for a month, they have made more profit than the target and their social life has improved a bit.

At the same time, it has been criticized as a government ploy to cover up the shortcomings in dealing with the Covid expansion.
