BFAB (Born From A Boombox)Dance crew based in Portarlington participated in Hiphop International Ireland qualifiers that took place between March 31st to April 2nd 2023. Ramakrishnan AKA Bubblelock went with 2 other dancers from his crew and participated in 2 categories in HHI Ireland qualifiers that took place between March 31st to April 2nd 2023. There were about 300 dancers from different dance schools around the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. Bubblelock participated in solo Locking battle and along with his crew mates he participated in Mini crew competition along with 26 other teams. Bubblelock won Gold in solo locking battle and the team won Silver . With this win , bubblelock and his team will be representing Ireland in the World hip hop international championship that will be happening in Phoenix Arizona, August 2023.
Bubblelock said ” It feels like a dream come true and we have put a lot of our hard work and passion into this particular competition. We have already started to prepare for the final championship as there are going to be 52 countries competing alongside Ireland” “Being Indians migrated to Ireland and representing this beautiful country on the world stage, I feel like Monty Panesar, and Ravi Bopara in the England cricket team”. Bubblelock said “he has admired that big stage since 2014 and feels so great to think he is going to be on that stage this year”.
Ramakrishnan AKA Bubblelock moved to Ireland 4 years ago from Chennai and has been dancing for more than 15 years he is the most senior member of the famous BFAB dance crew and United grooves school of dance based in Chennai. After moving to Ireland he started working with many dancers here and bringing dance opportunities and exposure to the Indian community here. Ram has been the only Indian competing in hip hop competitions and battles happening in Ireland for the past 3 years . He has won many solo competitions in Ireland and been a judge and also has taught workshops in Irish dance schools. Now he has formed a team and has already started winning them. On 26th feb his crew won 3rd place in Beginner adults category in SDI dance competition in Skerries .This recent win In Hip Hop international in April they won silver in professional level competition and qualified to represent Ireland in the USA.
Bubblelock has won several dance battles here in Ireland. He recently won Gold in the Locking battle in hip hop international championship this year. A Dance battle is a street dance culture which is an impromptu of dancing inside a cypher with a particular dance style foundations a dancer is trained on. It is something like fighting but with no physical contacts and only with love for dance and showcasing your training that you put in regularly. You shed sweat but no blood when you battle with dance. During this dance battle dancers hold respect and love for each other and there will be a judge who has done these dance battles for several years and proved that they are champions in their dance style. Winning a dance battle involves your character, mindset, physical ability and consistent training in your dance style.
Bubblelock is teaching regular classes in Dublin, Tullamore and Portarlington. Bubblelock is also auditioning for trained dancers in any style who wish to cross train and form a street dance group in Ireland.
