High-fives for Mumbai Indians; Becomes IPL champions for the fifth time

Mumbai Indians beat Delhi Capitals by five wickets to clinch their 5th IPL title.

Delhi captain Shreyas Iyer was lucky to win the toss but wasn’t that lucky enough to grab the winners cup.

DC elected to bat first in the big match, but the things went in favor of Mumbai Indians as they managed to send back Marcus Stoinis on the very first ball.

MI’s speed gun, Trent Boult took the wickets of Stoinis and Ajinkya Rahane in the powerplay itself. Meanwhile Shikar Dhawan lost his wicket to Jayant Yadav.

Captain Iyer (65) and Rishab Pant (56) managed to built a century partnership on the fourth wicket which helped them to take their team total to 156.

The 157 run target was a slice of cake for the MI batting line up. As their captain Rohit Sharma (68) regained his form back the final turned into a one sided match.

With this, Mumbai became the first team to win five titles in the IPL and the second team to defend the title after Chennai Super Kings.

The Punjab captain KL Rahul became the top scorer of the season and got the orange cap. Rahul scored 670 runs from 14 matches. It was the DC’s very own Kagiso Rabada who bagged the most number of wickets in the season. He picked 30 wickets and gained the purple cap.

Royal Challengers Bangalore’s opening batsman Devdutt Padikkal became the ‘Emerging Player of The season.’

IPL 2020 had ended on a positive note that the BCCI president Sourav Ganguly has shared the hope that the next edition of the Indian Primer League will happen in the months of April, May next year.
