Dublin: The first Hindu temple in Ireland is set to be inaugurated on the auspicious day of Vinayaka Chathurthi.
The history being created in the land of saints and scholars on August 22 at 12pm. The opening program will continue over two weekend days to facilitate all devotees, the temple authorities said.
Only 50 people are allowed into the temple at a time due to the Covid-19 restrictions. The historic day is to be celebrated with all preventive measures and guidelines being taken.
Two meter social distancing and face coverings are mandatory for all including children.
People are requested to book their free slot (each slot for 45 min) via Eventbrite. Bookings will be open from 15th August 9am.
Visitors are requested to turn on their Bluetooth and Covid-19 tracker.
People with any symptoms of virus are asked not to attend the function. Also late entries are not encouraged as they may lead to further controversy.
The 10,000 square foot temple in Dublin’s Walkinstown is designed to seat at least a thousand people at a time. There will be several halls, language, music and study centers attached to it.
The Dublin Temple is home to idols of Lord Ganesha, Lord Krishna and Lord Ayyappa.
In connection with the temple, various projects will be initiated under the auspices of the Hindu community in Ireland. The most important of these are the Community Service Project, the Library Project, the National Integration Project and the Women’s Empowerment Project.
The Vedic Hindu Cultural Center intends to launch new projects in Ireland in the fields of education and health, including Ayurveda. A special scheme for senior citizens will also be formulated.
Donation Appeal
A lot of people were involved in this project. The office bearers have requested everyone to donate and support as more funding is still needed to complete the temple construction.
The donor who pays €500 or more will be included as a Life Member, and their names will also be written on the board inside the temple.
Any Hindu believer in Ireland could become a member of the Management Council and Board, VHCCI officials said.
