Dublin: Uisce Éireann has extended hosepipe bans in parts of Meath, Westmeath and Donegal until at least October 13, citing severely depleted water sources despite recent rainfall.
The orders apply to Kells–Oldcastle (Meath), Mullingar (Westmeath) and Milford (Donegal). The utility said lakes in these areas, fed by underground springs or small catchments, are slow to recover after last year’s dry seasons and Ireland’s warmest summer on record.
While bans in Tipperary, Waterford, Wexford and Cork will lapse on September 16, Uisce Éireann urged households to continue conserving water.
