DUBLIN: The National Public Health Emergency Team (NPHET) reports that 511 new COVID-19 cases have been confirmed yesterday in Ireland.
This brings the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 237,695.
The Health Department has stated that two more people have died with COVID-19 in Ireland. The death toll from COVID-19 now stands at 4,715.
Earlier this week, Deputy Chief Medical Officer Ronan Glynn urged the public to follow public health advice this weekend to ensure a safe Easter. “Over the past year the vast majority have consistently done all they could to protect themselves and their families from Covid-19, please do so again this weekend,” Dr. Glynn tweeted.
Meanwhile, the HSE said the country will administer a total of one million vaccine doses by next week.
The HSE CEO Paul Reid tweeted that Good Friday was one of the highest days so far for the vaccine administration. More than 27,000 doses administered yesterday.
As of March 31, 865,460 doses of the vaccine were administered in Ireland. 619,003 people received their first dose, and 246,457 received their second dose.
Mr. Reid said that 900,000 to 950,000 doses will be administered by the end of this weekend, and that a “great milestone” of one million vaccine doses will be achieved sometime next week.
