Huge rush on vaccine portal; thousands of people registered within hours

DUBLIN: Huge rush to register on the vaccine portal. Thousands of people registered to be vaccinated within hours of the portal’s launch. Within hours, around 26,000 people had registered for the COVID-19 vaccination.

The online registration for vaccination is available for people between the ages of 65 and 69. The majority of people register online, and only a few use the HSE’s live line.

HSE Chief Executive Paul Reid said it was very encouraging to reach out to the public through the vaccine registration system. The support line can be used by those who face any difficulties in registration.

Mr. Reid said he expects to complete the registration of people between the ages of 60 and 64 by the end of April.

Next week’s vaccination target is between 140,000 and 160,000 doses.

The vaccine registration portal will be available on the Health Service Executive website at 10 am and at HSE Live number – 1850 24 1850.

Online registration takes less than 10 minutes for people to complete. The HSE also said that in some cases it may take only less time.
