India can restore ‘peace’ in Ukraine, – Meloni

New Delhi, India – Giorgia Meloni, the Italian Prime Minister, stated that India can bring peace to Russia-occupied Ukraine. Meloni made the remarks following bilateral talks with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday in New Delhi.

Meloni went on to say that Modi is aware of Italy’s unwavering support for Ukraine.

“He shares the hope that India, as the G20 chairman, can play a significant role in ending the hostilities between Russia and Ukraine and paving the way for a just peace,” Meloni said.

Modi also stated that India, which is neutral in the Ukraine conflict, is willing to support any peace plan.

In the fight against terrorism and separatism, India and Italy will work together.

Modi stated that the two countries want to strengthen economic ties and announced the establishment of a startup bridge between the two countries. “We discussed strengthening bilateral cooperation in renewable energy, green hydrogen, information technology, semiconductors, telecommunications, and space,” he said.

Meloni emphasised that this was her first bilateral visit to India and that she hoped to strengthen bilateral economic ties.

Meloni stated that because the India-Italy relationship is so strong, it has been decided to elevate it to a strategic partnership.
