India Downgrades Diplomatic Ties with Pakistan After Deadly Kashmir Attack

India has summoned Pakistan’s top diplomat in New Delhi, Saad Ahmad Warraich, following a militant attack in Kashmir that killed 26 tourists. In response, India has taken several measures to downgrade ties with Islamabad, including closing a key border, suspending the Indus Waters Treaty, and revoking visa exemptions for Pakistani citizens.

India also announced the expulsion of Pakistan’s defence personnel from New Delhi and plans to reduce its own diplomatic staff in Islamabad. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called an all-party meeting to discuss the government’s response.

The attack, claimed by the Kashmir Resistance group, has heightened tensions in the already volatile region. Indian security forces have launched a large-scale manhunt, while Pakistan’s government convenes its national security committee to determine its response.
