New Delhi — India has maintained a firm position that there will be no compromise when it comes to countering terrorism, emphasising that any terrorist activity will be treated as an act of war. This stance was reiterated during recent director general-level military talks between the two countries. The Indian Air Force has also confirmed that Operation Sindoor remains active and will continue as planned.
Talks Continue Amid International Concerns
Pakistan’s decision to engage in dialogue reportedly comes amid concerns about its eligibility for further financial assistance from the International Monetary Fund (IMF). During recent high-level military talks, Pakistani officials conveyed their concerns to their Indian counterparts. The next round of discussions is scheduled for Monday at 12 noon.
Defense analysts and senior military figures have expressed support for maintaining strategic pressure on Pakistan. Retired Air Marshal I.P. Vipin stated that the military should sustain its current posture along the border until Pakistan demonstrates genuine commitment to de-escalation. “A strong deterrent presence is necessary to ensure accountability,” he added.
US Vice President Vance Reaches Out to PM Modi
In a notable diplomatic development, US Vice President J.D. Vance reportedly called Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday to discuss rising tensions between India and Pakistan, according to a report by CNN citing senior US officials. The United States has not taken a mediatory role in the talks but has facilitated communication between the parties to encourage dialogue.
Until recently, Vice President Vance had maintained that the India-Pakistan conflict was not an issue the United States would directly involve itself in, although he voiced support for de-escalation. The call to Modi came after Vance briefed former President Donald Trump, expressing concern that hostilities could intensify significantly over the weekend.
The outreach was part of a broader diplomatic effort, as acting US National Security Adviser and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, along with White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, held separate discussions with senior officials in both India and Pakistan.
Vice President Vance was on an official visit to India with his family when the Pahalgam terror attack occurred, reportedly influencing the urgency of Washington’s engagement.
India continues to monitor the situation closely, with security forces on high alert and diplomatic channels remaining active to ensure national security and regional stability.
