India Shines at the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou with 107 Medals

Hangzhou: On Day 14 of the 19th Asian Games, India’s medal tally soared to an impressive 107, showcasing the nation’s sporting prowess. Notable achievements included India’s archery contingent securing two gold medals, with Jyothi Surekha and Ojas Pravin Deotale emerging victorious in the women’s and men’s compound events, respectively. Additionally, Abhishek Verma earned a silver medal, and Aditi Gopichand claimed a bronze in the same sport.

The women’s Kabaddi team exhibited their dominance by winning gold, triumphing over Chinese Taipei in a thrilling final. The men’s Kabaddi team also secured gold, albeit in a controversial final against Iran.

In the realm of badminton, Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy made history by clinching gold in the mixed doubles final.

Cricket also contributed to India’s medal haul, as the men’s cricket team was awarded gold due to rain interrupting their final match against Afghanistan, where India held a higher seed.

Hockey added to India’s glory, with the women’s team securing the bronze medal by defeating Japan.

In the arena of wrestling, Deepak Punia earned a silver medal in the 86kg men’s freestyle category, while Vicky and Sumit faced disappointment in their respective categories.

Lastly, the men’s and women’s chess teams added silver medals to India’s growing tally, resulting in a total of 107 medals.
