Dublin: The 16th edition of the Indian Film Festival of Ireland (IFFI) will take place from September 5 to 7 at Nutgrove Omniplex Cinema, offering audiences three days of international screenings, distinguished guests, environmental films, and live cultural performances.
A highlight of this year’s festival is the participation of European-based Indian filmmakers, whose work reflects the diverse voices of the diaspora. Alongside Indian cinema, the programme will showcase independent productions by Indian filmmakers living and working across Europe and beyond.
Renowned actor, dancer, and filmmaker Javed Jaffrey, along with director Avinash Das, will headline the festival. Their film In Galleon Main (In These Lanes) will receive a special gala screening, while Jaffrey’s performance in Moha, directed by acclaimed cinematographer Santosh Sivan, will close the festival.
Other notable guests include director Kesavi Jaharia, travelling from Amsterdam, whose short films Cybershot and Insceptible will be screened. The line-up also features Irish Baba, a short film by Sree Vallabhaneni and Vivek Sreekumar.
Environmental cinema is another key strand of this year’s programme, with Indian films addressing themes such as climate change, heatwaves, and forest fires. Audiences can also attend a free screening of Moving Upstream: Ganga, a documentary on the Ganges River, presented in partnership with the ongoing Know Your River Festival in Kilkenny.
The festival will conclude with a gala awards ceremony and a vibrant showcase of Indian dance performances.
For further information and ticket details, audiences are encouraged to visit the official festival website, said Chief Patron Cleona Buckley and Festival Director Siraj Saidi.
