Madhusmita Jena, a lady of Indian origin, ran the Manchester marathon in a sari. Jena, an Odia marathoner from the United Kingdom, completed the 42.2 km course in 4 hours and 50 minutes. Jena is a Manchester teacher who has completed several marathons and ultramarathons throughout the world. She sought to create awareness about Indian heritage and culture by running the marathon in a sari.
