Woodburns, an Indian whisky crafted in Goa, has secured top recognition at the prestigious Concours Mondial de Bruxelles, one of the world’s largest blind-tasted spirits competitions.
The whisky earned both the Contemporary Indian Whisky Grand Gold Medal and the coveted Revelation Blended Whisky Award for Best Whisky, placing it at the forefront of global whisky tastings this year.
The competition, known for its rigorous standards, involves expert judges from more than 50 countries. Entries undergo strict quality controls and fixed medal allocations, making Woodburns’ achievement particularly significant.
A Home-Grown Indian Success
Produced by Fullarton Distilleries in Khandepar, Goa, Woodburns is a 100% Indian blended malt made exclusively with local ingredients. The whisky is matured in oak pieces and distinguished by its smoky house style.
Tasting notes highlight medicinal hints of iodine, balanced with sweet honeyed barley malt, dark chocolate, sesame oil, and fresh oak. Its aroma features caramel, cumin, and chocolate, creating a complex profile that impressed international judges.
