Cork: Deepa Dinamani, 38, an Indian woman who was found murdered in her rented house in Cardinal Court, Cork, is believed to have died hours before gardai found her. Deepa Dinamani’s five-year-old son was in another house nearby when she was killed.
The incident occurred last evening following an argument between the husband and wife at their home in Cardinal Court.
After receiving the danger signal, the emergency services rushed to the scene shortly after 10. They have a son. Deepa Dinamani, a Palakkad native, worked as an accountant in Cork.
In the morning, one of the parents took the child to the summer camp, and another friend was assigned to bring him back. The child was picked up from summer camp by a friend and taken home. When they arrived at the house in Cardinal Court with the child after the parents did not arrive despite a long delay, they discovered the child’s father there in a suspicious manner. The garda was then notified by the friend.
The Gardai concluded that the woman had died hours before they arrived at her home.
The Garda murder investigation in Cork will only officially begin after the autopsy of the Indian woman’s body has been completed.
Gardaí immediately blocked access to the two-storey terraced house after the woman’s body was found. Garda officers recovered a knife from the scene, which was sent for forensic analysis to determine whether it was used in the attack.
An incident room has been set up at Togher Garda Station, and garda have also launched house-to-house inquiries in the Cardinal Court area of Wilton, inquiring whether any neighbours heard any noise, disturbance, or knew of any incident at the home.
Attempts are being made to contact the deceased woman’s friends and learn when she was last seen alive.

On Saturday afternoon, Chief State Pathologist Dr. Linda Mulligan began a post-mortem examination on the woman’s body at Cork University Hospital mortuary.
The young woman’s body was discovered by the emergency department, which arrived at her home around 10 on Friday. In the house’s bedroom, they discovered a woman in a pool of blood with a stab wound to the neck.
A local doctor immediately arrived and pronounced the woman dead at the scene. The gardai arrested the woman’s 41-year-old husband and took him to Togher garda station for questioning.
The accused was detained in accordance with Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act. He will remain in garda custody as questioning has been suspended. The garda are giving the explanation that the arrest was made on suspicion, but the garda have clarified that they are not investigating anyone else in connection with this incident.
