The Indri Diwali Collector’s Edition 2023, an Indian whisky, has achieved the prestigious title of the world’s best whisky at the Whiskies of the World Awards. This remarkable recognition signifies a significant milestone for the global standing of Indian whiskies, as it triumphed over numerous renowned international brands, including Scotch, Bourbon, Canadian, Australian, and British single malts.
Crafted by Piccadilly Distilleries, a company known for its unwavering commitment to quality and innovation in the whisky industry, the Indri Diwali Collector’s Edition 2023 received the ‘Double Gold Best in Show’ award. This Indian single malt, crafted in the Himalayan foothills, utilises six-row barley from Rajasthan and pristine glacier water from the Yamuna River. It is then aged in Pedro Ximenez Sherry casks, imparting a rich, dark amber hue and delightful, currant-like notes to the whisky.
The Whiskies of the World Awards, an esteemed annual event gathering influential figures in the beverage industry, subject over 100 whisky varieties to blind tastings, assessing them based on aromatics, flavour, and finish.
