Additionally, a nationwide yellow alert is in effect, with the Met Office anticipating the persisting adverse weather conditions until Friday afternoon. The week ahead is expected to bring continuous cold and snowy conditions, with daytime temperatures reaching a maximum of 5 degrees Celsius.
Monday is forecasted to be bitterly cold, with a risk of black ice, particularly early in the morning. Snow and fog are anticipated, with isolated rain, snow, and sleet expected in the north and northwest regions. The day will see mostly dry conditions with a light northwest wind and highs of 1C to 4C. The night will be mostly dry, though cloud cover in the north may bring rain, snow, and mist, especially in Ulster, Connaught, and north Leinster, with minimum temperatures ranging from -4C to 0C.
Tuesday will see a slight temperature change, reaching three degrees to seven degrees. While there may be a reduction in the cold due to rain in the north and potential snow at higher altitudes, the north and northwest will continue to experience snow and fog. The day will be dry and sunny elsewhere, with rain, overcast conditions, frost, and snow persisting in the northern parts. Nighttime temperatures may drop to -4C in some areas.
Wednesday is expected to remain very cold, featuring generally dry and sunny weather with daytime highs of 1C to 4C. Snow and fog are anticipated in the north and west. Thursday and Friday will see little change in the cold weather, with widespread wintry showers likely in northern areas, coupled with good sunlight. Overall, temperatures are expected to range between 2 and 5 degrees Celsius.
